[PHOTOS] SeaWorld comes to Las Vegas!

In December, SeaWorld San Diego made their way to the desert of Nevada for a little show and tell! To help promote their SeaWorld Cares conservation project, we were honored to have a handful of their animals – ones that adapt heartily to a winter environment – in Viator’s Las Vegas office.

The team from SeaWorld first brought in a Pixie Frog (or African Bull Frog). Despite its name, the Pixie Frog is the second largest frog in the world and is filled with sacks of water, which help it survive underground in dry environments, and also in warding off predators.

Next up was our little friend “Justin Beaver”, a North American beaver. He was 6 months old and had been rescued from a housing development that his parents helped flood! They weren’t the best neighbors it seems!

Our next visitor was extremely impressive! “Seneca”, a rehabilitated bald eagle was resplendent in all her glory as she sat on the extremely strong forearm of her handler. She had a broken wing, so was unable to be returned to the wild. Her wingspan was a little over 6 feet long – just to give you an idea of her size.

Being the holiday season, what else would be brought to our offices other than a reindeer? “Olive” stayed outside in the cold, but had the staff’s children especially excited! Not too many had seen one of Santa’s helpers so close before.

Finally, we met Lulu, the pregnant camel! Yes – a camel came out to our office for a visit! The gestation period for a camel is a wicked 15 months, so we truly appreciated her making the trek out to see us in her condition.

All in all, we had one of the best afternoons ever learning about the various SeaWorld parks around the USA and also about their conservation efforts. A huge thank you goes out to their team for allowing us the time to spend with the animals!
